It's Sunday Aug 8 and I'm flying back from Amsterdam, arriving in time to unpack, shave my legs and get to Barracuda for my show. What a crazy time I have had in Europe! In my last article I talked about the disaster in Warsaw but luckily the rest of the trip just got better and better.
I was part of a big show in Hamburg to kick off their Gay Pride Week. There were so many great performers; a sexy hula hooping mama from Ukraine, a trio of delicious acrobatic boys, Zuperfly singing the Pride Athem that they wrote and many more. It was a classy evening under a big tent and everyone was dressed to the nines. I couldn't wait to take the stage in my new gold sequined gown and sing Shit My Pants! After Hamburg I was off to Helsinki. I had a show at Hercules where I perform several times a year. I now have great friends there and my dear friends from Tallinn showed up also. There are some fantastic drag queens in Helsinki; Mega Paula, Jarrko and Oscar, Crystal Snow and Miss Divet to name a few. They were all at the show but sans wigs. People kept buying me the Finnish version of a Long Island Iced Tea. I don't know what the fuck is in it but I am still not right a week later.
The next day I boarded the Atlantis Gay Cruise. This was my first cruise and every preconceived notion I had about cruises was wrong! It was the best time ever!! A had a gorgeous suite with a balcony, the food was beyond yummy and the cabaret room where I performed was a dream. It's like a city at sea - everything you need is there and it's 5 star! Everyone was so nice and having a captive audience who really has no way out was also a dream! LOL. No one was texting and they were loving my show… did I mention it was a hearing impaired cruise? I had one free day in Stockholm and had lunch with some friends. I highly recommend checking out one of their cruises.
We ended in Amsterdam just as the Gay Pride Parade was starting. I know it's a big event there but I was wiped out and had to take a disco nap. I was performing at a new monthly party called Fruitcake. The guys who run it, Jason and Luis, could not have been more wonderful. They picked me up, took me lunch, paid me before the show and were so sweet! The club was packed and many drag queens were there to perform or hang out. My dear friend, MayDay, who is the star of Amsterdam hung out for awhile as well as another friend, Drag King Sexy Galexy from Sydney. Love him! Dolle Bellefleur performed. And this crazy queen (sorry can't remember her name) gave herself an abortion on stage. Madness!
